Types of Software


	There are two basic types of Software.

	1. Operating Systems
	2. Application Programs

Operating Systems


	Operating Systems contain general software packages that co-ordinate
the hardware control of the computer. They create the computer environment
which allows the programs to run. It is a super organizer that may enable
several tasks to be carried out at once. For Example, Windows is an
Operating System.

Application Program


	An Application Program allows the user to do one or more tasks on 
the computer. An Application program is like Microsoft Word, or Netscape 
Navigator.
